Windows Threshold: Microsoft plans a Start menu comeback!

Along with the return of the Start button in Windows 8.1, it looks like Microsoft will be adding an extra blast from the past in the next version of Windows, codenamed “Threshold”. According to a new report, the Start menu may also be making a return, letting you access your favourite apps and destinations without the hassle of the full-sized Start screen and its enormous tiles. According to journalist and Microsoft expert Paul Thurrott, the software giant is planning to make the Start menu available as an option in the next major Windows release. The addition of the Start menu follows a major Microsoft reversal in Windows 8.1, which brought back the Start button we’ve been used to for decades now – though all it did was launch the Start screen, which many people originally confused by Windows 8 hated anyway.


It’s not clear if the classic menu will be made available in all of versions of the new Windows Threshold, as Thurrott speculates that it may only be included with those that support desktop apps. Read More ...
